What's legal in Hawaii?

Front side windows must let in at least 35% of light. Since Hawaii's 2025 amendment (Act 129), every vehicle — sedans included — can go as dark as you like on the rear side windows and back glass. Windshields stay at 70% and mirrored or colored-reflective finishes aren't allowed. We install legal shades, issue the compliance certificate at install, and can talk through medical exemptions.

Ceramic vs. carbon — is ceramic worth it?

Carbon looks great and blocks UV, but ceramic and ceramic IR are what actually keep heat out. In Kona, most customers who compare samples on the glass pick ceramic.

How long does it take?

Most vehicles are 2–4 hours. Drop off in the morning and pick up after lunch, or wait in the lounge.

When can I roll my windows down?

Give it 3–5 days. The film needs to fully cure to the glass before the window seals rub across it.

Will it interfere with my phone, GPS or toll transponder?

No. Carbon and ceramic films contain no metal, so signals pass straight through.

What about the windshield?

A 70% clear ceramic IR windshield film blocks a huge amount of heat while staying nearly invisible. It's our most popular add-on for trucks and Teslas.

VLT = visible light transmission: a lower number is a darker film (5% is limo dark, 70% is nearly clear).
Since Act 129 (2025) sedans follow the same rear-window rule as SUVs and trucks: any darkness behind the driver.
Mirrored, metallic or highly reflective finishes (red, yellow, amber or blue when viewed from outside) are not permitted on any window.
Your installer issues a compliance certificate at install — keep it in the vehicle.
Factory privacy glass on many SUVs and trucks is already around 20–25% VLT on rear windows.
