Serving Captain Cook

Why Captain Cook comes to us.

Captain Cook sits a couple of miles south of Kealakekua at around 1,250 feet, and the two effectively run together as one long coffee-belt community strung along Māmalahoa Highway. It is farm country — coffee, macadamia, and a lot of vehicles that work for a living rather than commute.

Working vehicles up here take a particular kind of punishment. Unpaved farm access, narrow shoulders, gravel and the steep descents toward the coast all throw material at a front end, and a truck that spends its day parked in an open field is taking full sun on the cab. Tint solves the second problem cheaply. Paint protection film on the bumper, hood and fenders solves the first, and door cups and door edges are inexpensive coverage on any vehicle that gets used hard.

The trip north to us is about twenty-five minutes on the same highway. For a work vehicle it is usually worth booking a drop-off rather than waiting, so we can do the prep properly — with film and coatings, the preparation is most of the quality.
