Keauhou runs along the bottom of Aliʻi Drive south of Kailua-Kona, close enough to the water that ocean air is part of daily life. Salt-laden air is a genuine factor for a vehicle parked here — it accelerates corrosion wherever paint has already been compromised, which is why a stone chip that has gone down to primer matters more on this coast than it would inland.
Between the resorts, the shopping centre and Kahaluʻu Beach Park, a lot of Keauhou vehicles spend their days in open lots with no shade. Interiors take the worst of that.
