Kealakekua sits up in the coffee belt on the Māmalahoa Highway — the same road our shop is on. Ceramic tint, paint protection film, coatings and wraps, twenty minutes north.
Kealakekua sits at around 1,400 feet in the heart of the Kona coffee belt, on the same Māmalahoa Highway that runs past our shop in Holualoa. That makes the trip a straight run down the mountain road rather than a drive through town, which most South Kona customers appreciate.
Up here the mix of problems is a little different from the coast. It is greener and cooler than sea level, but the sun is no gentler, and the roads are the thing that changes the calculation. Māmalahoa is a two-lane highway winding through coffee and macadamia country, and the steep side roads down toward Nāpōʻopoʻo and Kealakekua Bay are narrow, often patched, and edged with loose material. That is exactly the driving that puts chips in a front bumper and a hood edge.
For most vehicles up here, the honest combination is ceramic tint for the sun, and paint protection film on the front end for the roads. If your vehicle also does the run down to the bay regularly, rocker panels are worth covering too. We are twenty minutes north on the same road, so drop-off is easy on any trip into Kona.
